NAFCT is excited to hold its first in-person training in July

The National Association of Floor Covering Technicians (NAFCT), is pleased to announce that they will be holding a Substrate and Subfloor Prep Training event. The event will take place July 28-29, 2021, in Columbus, OH at America’s Floor Source, an NAFCT Founding Member.

NAFCT recently released the Substrate and Subfloor Prep Certification program. This event will be the first hands-on training for the certification, and we are proud to have the participation and sponsorship from NAFCT’s Educational Partners. The Educational Partners for this certification include ARDEX Americas, Divergent Adhesives, H.B. Fuller Construction Products Inc., ISE Logik Industries, LATICRETE International, Inc., Loba-Wakol, LLC, Mapei Corporation, and Schönox, HPS North America, Inc.

Sonny Callaham, Co-founder and Chairman shared, “All good installations start with a properly prepared substrate. Much like life, if you do not have a strong base, it does not matter what you do next. You can do everything else completely perfect, but if it is built on a substandard substrate, the job will fail. I am so proud to be a part of this inaugural certification for NAFCT and we look forward to providing affordable, accessible classes across the country.”

About the Substrate and Subfloor Prep Certification

The Substrate and Subfloor Prep Certification is a three (3) step process.

The first step is to take the online course comprised of seven (7) lessons that are thirty to forty-five minutes in length and progress linearly. Lessons include wood subfloors and underlayment materials, wood subfloor construction, components of concrete, concrete subfloor construction and placement, concrete problems and causes, thick pour gypsum underlayment and respirable silica. Prior to advancing to the next lesson, each person will need to take the accompanying quiz to reinforce knowledge.

The second step is to take the comprehensive hands-on training course with an NAFCT Educational Partner.

The third and final step is to successfully complete the online final exam.

Save the date for this event – July 28-29, 2021. Registration for the event will open shortly. Capacity for the event will be limited and registration will be on a first come, first serve basis.
